There were four disadvantages of conventional products.
1.) The conical shape of the blade.
The size of the hole changed depending on the depth of penetration into the leather, making it impossible to create a uniform seam.
2.) The blade is not assembled perpendicular to the handle. (both from above and from the front of the product)
Stitching Awl drills holes by feel, using the shape of the handle held in the hand as a guide.
Drilling is not performed while checking the drilled hole or the blade of the Stitching Awl with the naked eye.
If the Stitching Awl is not assembled vertically, the workability will be greatly reduced.
3.) The blade is not made with particular care.
I don’t know what material is used for the blade.
Metal hardness after hardening varies from product to product.
The blades are rough as they are left to be sharpened.
4.) No size variation in Stitching Awl.
No size variation, so it is not possible to punch holes according to the pitch of Diamond hole punches.
There were no standard sizes specified on the product, nor were there standards for blade width.

We developed this product because we wanted to create an evolution of Stitching Awl.
The following are points that we incorporated into the product during its development.
1. The blade of the Stitching Awl is assembled vertically on the handle.
By assembling the blade vertically, it is now possible to make a hole by feel, using the shape of the handle held by the hand as a guide.
There is no need to drill holes while checking with the naked eye.
2. The material and finish of the blade are carefully selected.
The blade is made of tool steel.
The entire blade is hardened to increase its metallic hardness.
The blade is springy to make it difficult to break.
The blade is polished by hand for the final finish.
You will experience smooth drilling and a good release from the leather.
3. The blade width has been made [straight shape] and [size variation] has been increased.
The blade width has been made straight from the blade tip to the base.
The size of the hole does not change even if the blade is deeply pierced.
