All our vegetable tanned leather is tanned with pits that are like 3meter deep pools.
The pits are filled with tannin that is extracted from mimosa trees. We soaked skins in the pits for a month for tannage. This tannage process is very rare nowadays. There are a few tanneries that still use this method because it takes long time. After tannage, we dye them with drums. After dyeing and drying process, we put neatsfoot oil onto the grain twice. Then we put some water-based top coat onto the grain, too. That agents give the leather glossy surface .The origin of raw hides is the USA. We import them by ships.
